How to Write a Resume That Doesn’t Sound Like AI Wrote It
AI can write resumes. But AI can’t get you interviews.
If your resume reads like a list of generic, robotic phrases, hiring managers notice — and move on.
Here's how to sound human again.
Common Signs Your Resume Sounds AI-Written
If your resume includes lines like:
“Results-driven team player seeking to leverage dynamic skillset”
“Utilized various strategies to improve performance metrics”
“Proficient in multiple tools and technologies”
You’re blending into the noise.
These phrases say nothing specific. They don’t show your impact. And they scream, “ChatGPT wrote this.”
✅ How to Fix It (Fast)
1. Use real numbers.
❌ “Improved processes”
✅ “Cut onboarding time from 14 days to 6 by redesigning training”
2. Cut fluff words.
❌ “Passionate and detail-oriented”
✅ Show that passion with results.
3. Start every bullet with a strong verb.
Built, Launched, Led, Solved, Created, Increased, Streamlined.
4. Focus on what changed.
Don’t just describe what you did. Show what happened because of it.
A Simple Test
Ask: “Could 1,000 people copy-paste this line into their own resume?”
If yes → delete or rewrite it.
